Forsyth Central High School
Forsyth Central High School is Forsyth County's Oldest High School having been built in 1956. FCHS boasts a rich tradition of excellence in our three A's: Academics, Arts, and Athletics. Forsyth Central has one of the few Georgia state accredited STEM Academies. The Band program has won numerous awards and trophies, as well as the Drama, Visual Arts, and Chorus Departments. Our Athletic programs are excited to move up into 7A class as they continue bring Championships back to FCHS.
Forsyth Central Band Program
The Forsyth Central Band Program consists of all of the instrumental ensembles at Forsyth Central High School. This includes the "Flash of Crimson" Marching, the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Winter Guard, Indoor Drumline and Jazz Band.
Flash of Crimson Marching Band
Directors: Tom Tucker and Amy Caputo
The Flash of Crimson Marching Band combines members of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Drumline, and Color Guard. This group provides entertainment at FCHS Football games, as well as competing in Marching Band Competitions throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
The Flash of Crimson Marching Band has won numerous awards throughout the years including making finals for 3 consecutive years at the Bands of America Super Regional at the Georgia Dome, making Semi-Finals at the BOA Grand Nationals Championships.

Forsyth Central Wind Ensemble

The Forsyth Central Wind Ensemble at features the finest musicians in the Forsyth Central band program. The Wind Ensemble is the most advanced level ensemble at Forsyth Central and plays the highest level literature at the high school.
Members of the Wind Ensemble will perform three school concerts a year and participate in GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) band contests and outside musical opportunities when they present themselves. At Large Group Performance Evaluation in March, these students typically earn the highest ratings possible.

Forsyth Central Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is the second of three wind bands at Forsyth Central High School. The Symphonic Band meets 4 days during the school week all year and is populated by mostly 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The Symphonic Band focuses on refining instrumental playing skills and performing quality music literature of a higher difficulty level.
Members of the Symphonic Band will perform three school concerts a year and participate in GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) band contests and outside musical opportunities when they present themselves. At Large Group Performance Evaluation in March, the students typically earn the highest ratings possible.

The Concert Band is the third of three wind bands at Forsyth Central High School. The Concert Band is the entry level band at Forsyth Central High School. The Concert Band meets 4 days during the school week all year and is populated by mostly 9th grade students. The Concert Band focuses on refining instrumental playing skills and plays literature that suits the players abilities.
Members of the Concert Band will perform three school concerts a year and participate in GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) band contests and outside musical opportunities when they present themselves. At Large Group Performance Evaluation in March, the students typically earn the highest ratings possible.

Forsyth Central Drumline

The Forsyth Central Drumline consists of percussion students that play all of the various percussion instruments. In the Fall, the Forsyth Central Drumline is a part of the Flash of Crimson Marching Band. We also provide small group ensemble performances featuring Drumline members throughout the year.
We divide the Drumline into two components: The Battery and the Front Ensemble. The Battery focuses on snare, tenor, and bass drum techniques, while the Front Ensemble focuses on melodic percussion like marimba, vibraphone, bells, etc.
The Drumline also provides percussion for the three wind bands during the Winter and Spring.
In the Winter and Spring, the Forsyth Central Drumline performs as an Indoor Drumline. They perform and compete within the Georgia Indoor Percussion Association and WGI Percussion.

Forsyth Central Color Guard/Winter Guard
Director: Dakota Carter
The Forsyth Central Guard provides the visual pageantry for the Flash of Crimson Marching Band in the Fall. This group uses choreography and equipment work (flags, sabres, and rifles) to add to the visual aspect of our performance.
This group also performs as the Forsyth Central Winterguard throughout the Winter and Spring. They perform a show with just the Guard performers and a music track. They compete and perform in the Southern Association of Performing Arts as well as Winter Guard International.

Forsyth Central Jazz Band
Director: Tom Tucker
The Forsyth Central Jazz Band is an ensemble that performs Jazz, Rock, and Latin music in a Big Band group setup. The group consists of two Alto Saxophones, two Tenor Saxophones, Bari Saxophone, 4 Trombones, 5 Trumpets, Guitar, Piano, Bass Guitar, Drumset, Vibraphone, and auxiliary percussion.
The Forsyth Central Jazz Band typically performs on the wind band concerts, as well as putting on a Jazz Band concert in the Spring.
